Calculation methodology (briefly)
Freight transported - the amount of freight (including paid baggage and mail) in tons transported by transport. It is taken into account by types of transport, messages, and type of freight. The initial moment of the freight transportation process is reflected by the indicator "freight dispatched (dispatch)," the final moment - by the indicator "freight arrived (arrival)." For all types of transport, the transported freight is shown except for road transport, the volume at the time of dispatch. In road transport, the accounting of transported goods is carried out at the moment of arrival. For individual transport organizations, the indicator "transported (cargo transportation)" is used to characterize the entire volume of work, which is defined as the sum of the sent goods and the goods accepted from other transport organizations for transportation. The unit of observation in the statistics of cargo transportation is a shipment, i.e. a batch of cargo, the transportation of which is formalized by a transportation contract. Formation of the indicator “transported cargo” – based on the recommendations of international statistical organizations, Eurostat, the CIS Statistical Committee and the definition of the System of National Accounts.
