Calculation methodology (briefly)
The poverty level is determined by the ratio of the population whose expenses (or income) are below the minimum expenditure value to the total population. When calculating the minimum expenditure value and the poverty line: The population's consumption, the volume and composition of income are formed on the basis of the results of a sample survey of households conducted by the Statistical Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Information on the energy value of food products is used to determine the cost of household consumption in kilocalories. The methodology for calculating the minimum consumer expenditure value and the poverty line is based on the recommendations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, FAO and the World Health Organizations.
